Fun at the Pumpkin Patch

by Ang

Yesterday I had the privilege of going with my nephew's 2nd grade class to Vala's Pumpkin Patch. It was so much fun! It was chilly, but at least it wasn't raining or snowing.

Pony rides:

Peddle cars:

Big yellow bouncy thing:

And pumpkins, of course!

It was fun to be there and especially fun to spend time with my nephew. I hope to go again!

Remembering Paris

By Amy

I've been thinking alot about Paris lately. Maybe because it's been six months since I've been there. It's seems like forever ago and sometimes it seems like it was just last month. I'm done with my scrapbook and sometimes when I look at it I think, was I really there?

I have a page in the very end for my final thoughts and feelings of the whole experience. It is still blank. It's hard to come up with the right words. How do you describe it? The whole experience in just one page? How can I write in words what it was like to step outside and breathe in the morning air that smells sweetly of pastries but sour like yeast, mixed in with the fumes from cars. Or the first time I laid my eyes on the Eiffel Tower and how my heart seemed to expand with the amazing beauty of it and how my sister just could not stop giggling from the pure joy of just being there. Or when we were invited to a real French home by a real French family and they fed us a delicious meal and we were treated with incredible hospitality. They made us feel like we really belonged.

I keep trying to find some quotes about Paris that really sum it up. I'm still searching. The closest that I found was in a fictional book I was reading by Harlan Coben.

"Much has been written about it's beauty and splendors, and sure, that was true. Every building was a mini architectural wonder, a feast for the eyes. Paris was like the beautiful woman who knew she was beautiful, liked the fact that she was beautiful and, ergo, didn't have to try so hard. She was fabulous and you both knew it.

But more then that, Paris makes you feel-for lack of a better term-alive. Check that. Paris makes you WANT to feel alive. You want to DO and BE and SAVOR when you are here. You want to feel, SIMPLY FEEL, and it doesn't matter what. All sensation is heightened. Paris makes you want to cry and laugh and fall in love and write a poem and make love and compose a symphony."

Maybe I'll just write that in my book. Every word of it is true.

A Year Ago this Month...

By Amy

We didn't do anything special today. Which was lovely. Just spent time with the family, built a fire and made a big pot of chili. It's fun to see what was going on a year ago when I look back at pictures that are on my computer. We had a glorious fall last year. I think it lasted two whole months and then some.

This year? Well it started off good. But then it snowed today. Our leaves are still green. So much for fall.

One day last October we had over my nieces and nephews. I call these two the Dolittles.

And this one? I call her sweetie pie.

And I call these two Weirdos. Or Double Trouble.

I am grateful for them. Grateful for all my family. Love and hugs to you all.

Things that made me Happy Today

By Amy
I was crabby today. And yesterday. So I decided to blog about stuff that made me smile on the outside even if I wasn't smiley on the inside. Or is that the other way around? Anyway....
My Pumpkin Display! Aren't these beautiful? A guy I work with GREW these!
My books I bought at the used book store! I love having so many options to choose from.
Flannel sheets! I bought these at Costco for 29.99.
The October picture in my little Paris calendar that my sister bought for me. I have been waiting all year for this one!
That's all for now. I'll definately have more happy stuff after this weekend. I'm going to go see Little Miss A!

Baby Girl Girly Goodness

by Ang

I needed a break this past weekend from unpacking and organizing, so I went to Lincoln to hang out with Little Miss A and her mom and dad. It was soooooo nice. We had such a good time!

She was sleeping when I arrived. But she woke up just for me (right?)

We played on our stomach for a little bit...

Look at all of her pretty hair!

Then we played on our back...

Then we played in the crib! Daddy played peak-a-boo and she loved it.

Crazy peak-a-boo hair

I think she finally got sick of my camera:

We all had such a good time. I went out to a nice dinner with my brother, sister-in-law and of course Little Miss A. And you know what the best part is? I get to see her again in 5 DAYS!!!

Welcome

by Ang
Finally!! Sorry I've been missing. You would think that with all this time that's passed that I would be completely done unpacking. Oh but I'm not. It's a slow process for me. But I'm chipping away at it. It will get done!
Here's the few things that I can share--
The door to my humble abode, and my sad attempt at a fall decoration:

It needs some help.

This is the office portion of my living room. I wanted two separate areas, and I think it worked out really well. When you walk in my front door and turn to the left, this is what you see:

Aw, let's get a closer look at that fabulous computer wallpaper.

I switch it up constantly, but it's always a picture of Little Miss A.

This is the rest of the living room. Well, kind of. There's still a little portion that I can't show yet because of boxes. But this is the important part (when you walk into the living room and look to the right):

Ignore the curtains. I don't think they're staying. And ignore the folding chair by the tv. I forgot to move it and was too lazy to take another picture.

And no post is complete without a fat cat picture:

So there you have it. Thanks for checking out a portion of my humble abode! More pictures to come!
