Curly Q

By Amy

How can something so simple like blowing up a balloon be so fascinating?

Maybe it has something to do with the four year old who is trying her hardest to blow that green balloon up.

I think her cheeks got pretty tired because after about eleven tries she asked me to do it. "Aunt Amy please?????"
Then she let it go

I love this little face.

Can't wait to spend a week with her and her family in Wyoming! We are leaving on Saturday. See you all then!

Funny, Freaky Fashion, Part II

by Ang

I've been trying to catch up on my magazines so I can toss them in the recycle bin and get rid of some of the paper clutter in my apartment. The first ones I went through were Vogue, because it's by far the most entertaining.
Remember this post from February? Well, I'm happy to say that Vogue didn't let me down this time either.
First, a peak at some NORMAL ads:

Add ImageNot bad, right? Decent clothes, normal settings. But then things start to go downhill...

"Look ma! It's my first Home Ec sewing project!"

"This jacket just doesn't seem to fit right. Now where did I put my flannel blanket?"

"I have to hold my arms out like this to balance out the weight of my head"

"I think I'll do some gardening today. Are these shoes practical enough?"

And now for my personal favorite. I don't know about you, but this is EXACTLY what I wore to my last eye appointment.

Toothless

By Amy

There is nothing cuter then a 6 to 7 year old missing two front teeth. My youngest lost one a few months ago. I wanted the second tooth to come out before the other one grew in! He lost it on Saturday. I love seeing that toothless grin and hearing him try to say his "S's".
He wanted to make sure everyone got a good look. (:

A Little on the Lighter Side

By Amy

With the death of our Aunt, our posts have been so heavy lately. It is just the way we feel right now. But tonight I'll give you something a little lighter.
When we heard the news about my Aunt,my husband sat my boys down and told them they can do three things to help their mom through this. Pray, get along and clean the house. In a attempt to put a smile on my face they obeyed without a single complaint. The night that I was packing they were playing outside for what seemed like hours. Finally they came in and said, "Mom! You have to come and see what we did!" This is what I found in our driveway. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Let's take a closer look shall we?

No band is complete without a guy with long hair.

Or a guy with a afro apparently.

I like the singers hair. And the tribute to AD/DC.

Cool drums and .....a micky mouse on the left hand side?
"Look mom! Your favorite rock band!" "Oh really? Who is that?"

My dear sweet boys. Aside from the spelling error, they even tried to write it like Def Leppard does. I should be denying that I love them to save myself any sort of dignity I have left. But it's true. I love Def Leppard. And I love my boys. For trying so hard to bring a smile to my face that night. They succeeded!

Grief

by Ang

Here is a picture of my dear Aunt when she was younger, twirling her fire baton.

She was so beautiful - inside and out.

I've been having a rough week, for obvious reasons. It comes in waves - sometimes I think I'm okay and then all of the sudden I'll start thinking about the wonderful person that we lost so suddenly and I just lose it. We were close. She was there for me and always knew what to say and when to say it. I remember when I was going through my divorce and she told me in her calming voice that I WOULD survive this and make it through and come out stronger than ever. On the day my divorce was final, she called me to say congratulations. :) She had made a note of the day and was thinking about me, of course. That's just who she was. She was one of the few genuinely kind people that I knew. Everyone that knew her just loved her. I always felt so privileged that she was MY aunt.

Amy posted a similar picture like this, but I took one too and just love it so much. The evening after my Aunt's memorial service, the family all went to Imperial Beach (the southernmost beach in California - you can see Mexico from it) to watch the sunset. Just last year, Amy and I came here with our Aunt and Uncle to watch the wind surfers.

And here's a few shots of Point Loma (the southwestern most point of the United States):

San Diego won't be the same without her.

Home Again

By Amy

We are home from California. The memorial service went really well. It was a beautiful talk and 167 attended. She was very loved. It still seems so unreal. Today I felt like I was walking in slow motion. I don't think it has sunk in yet. It was just so sudden. My heart feels numb. But it was encouraging to see all of her friends and to meet some of my uncles family. Alot of tears were shed and alot of memories were shared. I'll have more pictures soon.

Sadness

ByAmy
Ang and I are going to be taking a little blogging break for a few days. A very close family member has died suddenly and we are going to be traveling to attend her funeral. Before we go we wanted to share some pictures of our favorite heart healers. They can bring smiles to our faces even when things are very very sad.

Things I Love About Little Miss A

By Amy

Her "thinking" face....
How she sucks her thumb but can't curl her fingers yet.
Her tummy.....
Her tiny shoes....
Her neck and wispy hair....
How she sucks in her lower lip...
Her Great Grandma....
How her ears stick out a little on the top....
(besides her cheeks, this is my favorite feature)
Her thighs...
Her sleeping face....
Her white onesies....
The look on her face when she sees my camera!
